What does a delicious pie and a fabulous moisturiser have in common?
They both have great ingredients. What goes into them makes or breaks them. As we are committed to creating exceptional products, we take our ingredients very, very seriously.
Everything seems important?
There are so many criteria in cosmetic products these days - natural / organic / free from insert unfamiliar chemical name. What exactly should we look out for?
Let’s say you are at the shops, looking for a face wash. The decision making starts.
This one says it is organic – sounds good! But wait, the other one is 'free from chemicals'. Before you can figure out which of the two you want, you see a third that says 'all natural' ...
In the end, you probably wouldn’t have a clue and pick the one that looked the nicest!
That was me for the longest time. Until I had this realisation many products later, that the source of an ingredient is not an indication of how safe or good it will be for your skin.
What is really important!
At the end of the day, we want products that work for us. Therefore their ingredients should:
1. Support and benefit the skin
2. Not irritate the skin
At hop & cotton, we use ingredients that are safe, beneficial and effective.
Sometimes we use naturally-derived ingredients, like minimally-processed plant oils or highly purified lanolin. Other times we include synthetic ones like peptides or antioxidants.
Quality and performance determine which type of ingredients we use, not their source. Why shouldn't we have the best of both worlds?
The crumbly topping on the pie
We don't stop there after our meticulous ingredients selection process.
As there is no one-size-fits-all skin solution, we go on to formulate these ingredients at meaningful concentrations into unique products to specifically suit you. After all, not every skin likes every good thing and not everyone with the same skin type has the same concerns.
In short, we use fantastic ingredients in fantastic formulations customised purposefully for you.
